My Practice

Kimberly A. Steffenson, a California Certified Family Law Specialist, has practiced in family law since 2004.  Prior to opening her own practice, Ms. Steffenson worked with a law firm from 2004 until July of 2023.   Ms. Steffenson is trained as a mediator and served on the civil mediator panel for the Butte County Court and Yuba County Court.

Ms. Steffenson was certified in 2012 by the State Bar of California's Board of Legal Specialization.   This specialist certification requires extensive training and testing requiring continued education and training in Family Law giving her the distinction of one of only two Family Law Specialists in the Yuba-Sutter area.   

As an experienced family law litigator, Ms. Steffenson handles high-conflict custody and complex family law property matters including business valuation matters, as well as handles interstate issues involving the Uniform Child Custody and Enforcement Act (UCCJEA), the Uniform Interstate Family Support Act (UIFSA), and the Parental Kidnapping Prevention Act (PKPA).  

Ms. Steffenson has a passion for family law and understands the complexities of this area of law including the psychological effect on families involved in high-conflict matters.   There are psychological issues within families that are in conflict, and she is well qualified to provide guidance to minimize the impact on her clients and the children.     

Kimberly practices in the California Superior Courts and handles cases in all counties in California to include the Superior Courts of Sutter, Yuba, Colusa, Butte, Yolo, Tehama, Placer, Nevada, Plumas, Lassen, El Dorado, Sacramento, San Francisco, and San Bernadino Counties.  

A graduate of the University of the Pacific, McGeorge School of Law, Ms. Steffenson received her Juris Doctor with distinction in the Tax Concentration as well as obtained a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration in Finance from California State University, Chico.

In her spare time, Kimberly enjoys travel, photography, and spending time with her family and dog, Lily.
